Tame Valley Academy - Sensory Garden Opening

Tame Valley converted to an ECMAT Academy in December 2012 and achieved an Ofsted ‘Good’ grading in May 2014. As well as improving standards Head Teacher Peter Higgins and his staff have been working to improve the Academy environment.

Included in our premises plan was the development of a section of waste ground into a sensory garden. Mr Ian Price, Greenbox Ltd, worked with us to develop a wonderful sensory garden to enable pupils at Tame Valley to take part in activities such as: nurture sessions, nature classes, planting, growing, wildlife and science lessons. The sensory garden has been planted with a variety of plants; herbs and grass – there is also a seating area and a pond.

On Friday 6th March 2015, our garden was officially opened by Liam Byrne MP. The event was  attended by Sir Geoff Hampton, Director and Chief Executive of (ECMAT) as well as Liz Dix, Academies Director, our Parent Council and School Council members, members of the local community and senior Tame Valley staff.
