Our Inter-Academy Athletics competition was held on Tuesday 1st July. Six of our Primary schools took part and we were proud to see a lot of promising talent.
This year the Inter-Academy Athletics competition took place at the University's Walsall Campus, where six of our primary academies competed against each other for gold, silver and bronze medals.
Heathlands took the gold in the boys 800m by a storm and showed unbelievable speed all the way round the two laps of the track. All 12 competitors completed this event, scoring points for their academies and every boy and girl who competed showed real promise by finishing a very physically demanding race on such a hot day.
The Sack Race is always eventful and watching the determination of children to literally pick themselves up after each inevitable fall showed great spirit.
At the finish line the children were cheered on by Mr Chambers, Mrs Willetts and Mrs Dix all motivating the children to finish well.
ECMAT would like to thank the Perryfields students Mr Inman had organised to officiate the events. They were exceptional at helping and encouraging the children throughout the afternoon.
A big thank you also to Chris Milliard who organised the whole event for the pupils. Chris will be helping all of our academies from September to develop sport across the schools.
Congratulations to Woodhouse who took the trophies for boys, girls and overall competition. A full breakdown of medals is below.
The attitude and spirit of every single competitor and teaching staff who took part and attended the day was a genuine joy to be a part of and we can proudly say that as an ECMAT family, we all had a tremendous day of sport!
